The Annawan-Wethersfield Titans baseball team fell to Putnam County 10-7 in a home game Saturday.

The Titans’ starting pitcher, Pierce Childs, gave up four runs in the first inning, and the score remained 4-0 Putnam County until the fourth.

The Titans got on the scoreboard in the fourth when Jaxson Dunn singled, stole third and scored on a single from Myer Heitzler.

The fourth inning ended with a 4-2 score.

The Titans held the Panthers throughout the top of the fifth and climbed their way to the lead by the end of the fifth inning with a score of 5-4.

In the sixth inning, both teams scored two more runs. The Titans remained in the lead 7-6.

After eight lengthy innings, despite the hard-fought battle by the Titans, the Panthers were victorious with a final score of 10-7.

Thurston contributed four hits in four at bats— with two singles and two doubles.

The JV Titans then played the JV Panthers. In the first inning, the Panthers scored one, and the Titans scored two, and remained in the lead until the third inning when the Panthers tied it up at 2-2.

The game remained at a steady 2-2 tie until the bottom of the fifth inning, when Victor Skaggs singled, then made his way around the bases to score the final run for the Titans.

Unfortunately, the Panthers managed to score another run in the top of the sixth, bringing the game to a close with a tie at 3-3.

The varsity record is now 2-3, while the JV record is now 1-0-1.
