Pet of the week: Regal Rosemarie

By The Kewanee Voice    March 17, 2026
Rosemarie sits patiently on her throne and waits for an admirer to come along and offer her a new home.

Let us introduce you to Rosemarie, a petite tortie with a regal air and a personality to match. At just 7.5 pounds and 3 years old, she carries herself with the confidence of a cat who knows exactly who she is.

Rosemarie first arrived at the shelter last June from Henry County Animal Control. After settling in, she went to PetSmart and was quickly adopted. But just a few days later, she was returned—through no fault of her own—when a young family member developed a severe allergy.

Despite the rocky start, Rosemarie has handled it all with her signature poise. She can be a bit sassy at times and will simply stroll away if she’s not in the mood to play, but she gets along well with her kennel mates. Her inquisitive streak can make her seem a little nosy, though really she just enjoys exploring and keeping tabs on her surroundings.

Playtime is her favorite pastime, especially when toys are involved. But when canned food arrives, all bets are off—mealtime becomes her top priority. She’s also deeply affectionate with her caregivers, happily leaning in for ear scratches and gently reminding you not to stop too soon.

Rosemarie is spayed and fully vetted, including being up to date on rabies, microchipped, flea‑treated and dewormed.

Anyone interested in meeting Rosemarie can stop by the shelter during business hours or call 309‑852‑0040 for more information. Her adoption fee is $50. Request an audience with her today.
