
Every March 17, Americans pull on their green and sit down to what they consider a classic St. Patrick’s Day plate: corned beef and cabbage. So where can you find this Irish‑American favorite or other specials in the area?
This St. Patrick’s Day, local restaurants are leaning into the holiday with their own takes on Irish fare. Even with the celebration falling on a Tuesday, pubs and eateries across the area are rolling out themed specials, live music and plenty of green‑tinted cheer. From Kewanee to Geneseo, there’s no shortage of spots offering a festive way to mark the day.
Here’s a sampling of area restaurants that are offering corned beef and cabbage dinners on St. Patrick’ Day:
Annawan
Purple Onion is serving corned beef and cabbage on March 15 and 17.
Bishop Hill
Filling Station is serving lunch and dinner, and PL Johnsons is serving lunch-only
Cambridge
Spectrum Pub is serving corned beef and cabbage for lunch and dinner.
Galva
Uncle Nolan’s is serving the meal for lunch only.
Geneseo
Raelyn’s and State Street Cafe will serve Reuben sandwiches for lunch and corned beef and cabbage for dinner. State Street Cafe will be serving corned beef and cabbage on March 14 and 17.
Kewanee
Barnhouse, Red Apple, Downtown Eatery and Bakery, Cerno’s Pub will serve corned beef and cabbage. Time Out will be offering Irish nachos and Guppy’s in Kewanee is really getting into the spirit and will be serving corn beef and cabbage all day at no charge. But they will gladly accept donations.
Jack’s Place at Johnson-Sauk Trail State Recreation Area will serve Reuben sandwiches for lunch only.
Mineral
Wagon Wheel is closed Tuesday but will serve the dish on March 14.
If entertainment is what you’re looking for, Cerno’s is bringing back its popular Fiddlerock St. Patrick’s Day Jam on Tuesday, March 17, starting at 1 p.m. Violinist Casey McGrath performs high‑energy fiddle renditions of rock, pop and Irish favorites. Their kitchen will be serving traditional corned beef and cabbage, Irish nachos and after 4 p.m. corned beef pizza.
This St Patrick’s Day looks to be long on the fun and short on the problems, because after all, on St. Paddy’s Day everyone is a little Irish. Slainte!
