Kewanee High School’s sophomore basketball team got a victory at home Saturday.
“The Riveters defeated a very good Riverdale JV team in an afternoon battle that took place in Good’s Gym,” said Coach Matt Costenson. “The Riveters won 66-53 behind the sharp shooting efforts of Noah Barreto who had seven three-point baskets and 23 points in the game for the victorious Riveters,” Costenson said.
Alex Ramos and Jaxon DeReu added 17 and 13 respectively.
The Riveters will be off until Friday when they travel to Wharton Field House in Moline for the Moline Sophomore Christmas Classic.
Friday morning the Riveters will play Rock Island at 10:30 a.m. They then play Moline at noon.
Kewanee will play the Panthers of United Township High School at 9 a.m. and then will play the Silver Streaks of Galesburg at 1:30 p.m. to close out the 2025 portion of their season.
