It’s Halloween weekend bringing the month of October and the witching season to a close. With crisp, clear weather on the horizon, brace yourself to be besieged by hoards of hungry ghosts, ghouls and goblins – all on the prowl for sugary sustenance.

Wanee Theater is holding a special Halloween showing of the movies Halloween and Hocus Pocus at 7:30 p.m. The shows are free and all they ask is you keep your candy at home.

Saturday looks to be an exciting day with the Annawan/Wethersfield Titans taking on Stark County Rebels at 1 p.m. on their home field at WHS in the first round of state playoffs. Titans are undefeated and seeded second with the Rebels not far behind seeded at 15. This should be a great showdown featuring two area teams.

On Sunday the Herencia Hispana De Kewanee will be holding a Day of the Dead celebration at 7 p.m. at 109 E. 2nd St. in Kewanee. The community is invited to take part in this event honoring loved ones who have passed with a community altar featuring items that remind you of your late family member or friend.
