Titans boys fourth in XC regional; Rebels’ Knobloch finishes first

Annawan-Wethersfield runners placed fourth in the team standings at the cross country regional at Saukee Golf Course in Rock Island Saturday.

Stark County’s Evan Knobloch won the race in a first-place time of 15:20.

Noah Feltner was the first runner in for the Titans, finishing fifth in 16:16. Cash Verstraete was right behind, finishing sixth in 16:24.

Other Titans runners were Daylon Hendrix, 30th in 17:39; Alex Attig, 46th in 18:13; and Tyler Finn, 52nd in 18:37.

The Titans’ team score was 127.

For Kewanee, Hunter Vancil was the first to cross the finish line, placing 29th in a time of 17:38. Jason Rusk of the Boilermakers was 58th in 18:51, and Anthony Padilla was 77th in 20:22.

As a team, Annawan-Wethersfield placed fourth with 127 points. Sherrard won the team competition with 51 points. Stark County placed eighth as a team with a score on 167.

For the girls, Emily Downing of Cambridge led the field with a time of 17:17. Her teammate, Jana VandeKemp, was third in 17:50.

Stark County won the team competition with 72 points, led by a second-place finish by Dusti Smith (17:22) and a fourth-place finish by Cheyenh Smith (18:46). 

For Annawan-Wethersfield, the first runner home was Alexis Wilson (22:51). Other Titans runners were Ava Landwehr (60th, 23:58), Abby VanDeSampel (68th in 24:30), MaKenna VerKruyse (78th in 26:30) and Kayleigh Hamilton (82nd in 35:41).

Kewanee’s Jendayia Crowe placed 13th with a time of 20:00.

In team competition, Cambridge was third with 107 points and Annawan-Wethersfield ended up 11th with 291 points.
