Special guests will make an appearance at the opening night of the movie Fairyland, set for Friday, Oct. 17, the manager of Wanee Theater announced.
The movie Fairyland was adapted from the book Fairyland: A memoir of my father by Alysia Abbott, the daughter of Steve and Barbara (Binder) Abbott.
Alysia’s mother, Barbara, was the daughter of respected Kewanee physician Paul Binder and Ann Binder. Alysia’s book includes the times she spent with her grandparents in Kewanee.
When Wanee Theater Manager Chris Tanzillo learned about the film’s ties to the town, she reached out to a representative with Lionsgate Studios and was able to get the Kewanee theater on the list for limited release.
Now Tanzillo is announcing that David Binder, the uncle of Alysia, will be at the movie’s Friday opening and the author, Alysia Abbott, will appear following the movie on the big screen, via Zoom, to answer the audiences’ questions.
The opening is set for Friday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m.
