
Kewanee played a strong first half in their game in Mendota Friday.
But the second half didn’t go so well, and the Boilers ended up on the wrong end of a 45-13 score.
The Boilers got the scoring started late in the first quarter when Ace LaFollette reached the end zone on a three-yard run. Jesus Martinez kicked the extra point to make it 7-0 Boilers.
The Trojans responded with a 17-yard touchdown pass from Aden Tillman to Keegan Beetz in the second quarter. The extra-point kick tied the game.
Mendota took the lead late in the quarter on a six-yard run by senior Corbin Furar. The Boilers responded with a 10-yard pass involving two sophomores, Isaiah Ince to Chris Crowe. But the PAT kick was no good.
That was the last score of the evening for the Boilers.
In the third quarter the Trojans began a string of four touchdowns that gave them the 45-13 TRAC win.
The Boilers were 15 of 24 in passing. Mendota threw just nine passes and completed eight of them.
Kewanee sophomore Eli Dennison led the tackle chart with seven. Crowe had five tackles.
The Boilers host Sherrard Friday for their homecoming game.
