On Monday night, the Wethersfield High School varsity team traveled to Annawan to take on the Bravettes.
Senior Abigail Cabada started the game with great serves, giving the Lady Geese a strong lead. The Bravettes called their first time out with the score being 7-1 Geese.
The Geese had great blocks at the net, which helped them stay strong throughout the set. Annawan showcased some great skills throughout, but it wasn’t enough to pull ahead of the Geese.
The set ended 25-9, the Geese winning with a remarkable first set.
The second set also started with the same mindset. The Geese had long serving runs that helped them pull ahead. The Bravettes called their first timeout of the second set and 12-4.
The Bravettes regrouped and came back stronger against the Geese. They forced the Geese to make mistakes, bringing the score to a shorter lead of 13-11.
The Bravettes kept up with the Geese, keeping the short lead within a few points. This effort didn’t help in the end. The Geese dominated the end of the set, the score finishing at 25-2, the Geese winning.
The Geese’s conference record now sits at 6-0. Their season record is now 21-21.
