Kewanee High School’s football game at Princeton Friday was over early.

The Boilers fell behind 21-0 in the first quarter on touchdown runs of 4 and 45 yards by Princeton’s Casey Etheridge and two-yard run by Ayden Agushi.

After that third score by the Tigers, Kewanee’s Chris Crowe returned the ensuing kickoff 85 yards for the Boilers. The PAT kick was no good.

On the Boilers’ ensuing kickoff, Princeton returned the favor, with Agushi returning the kick 82 yards for a TD. Etheridge added another touchdown run and quarterback Gavin Lanhim connected with Abe Longeville on a 28-yard TD pass to make it 42-6 at the end of the quarter.

Etheridge scored his fourth touchdown of the game early in the second quarter, and on the ensuing Kewanee possession Princeton’s Grady Cox returned a recovered fumble eight yards for a score.

The Boilers rounded out their scoring for the evening when junior quarterback Isaiah Ince connected with Crowe on an 85-yard touchdown pass.

In addition to his two touchdowns, Crowe led the Boilers in rushing with 20 yards in three carries.

Princeton’s 63-12 win evened their overall record at 2-2 and put them in a three-way tie for the lead in the conference’s Mississippi Division with a 2-0 record.

Kewanee is one of three teams in the division at 0-2 in the conference and 0-4 for the year.

On Sept. 12, the Boilers lost at home 55-7 by still-undefeated Monmouth-Roseville. Kewanee fell behind 32-0 before Isaiah Hick’s 11-yard touchdown pass to Abram Hicks.
