KHS boys and girls hit the links

The boys and girls golf teams for Kewanee High School were in action Wednesday. 

The girls traveled to Midland Golf Course for a match up against a few other squads that do not have full teams. 

Sophie Hamilton shot 65, while Charlotte Burkhart had a 68. 

There were “a lot of positive things for the ladies,” Coach Brett VanDeWostine said. “They will look to improve as they go to Valley View.”

The boys were in action at Valley View Country Club in Cambridge. 

“It was a rough night for the boys as we had a lot of trouble on different holes,” the coach said. “But that is okay, not every day can be a great day in golf.”

The highlight of the night was freshman Lincoln Throneburg shooting a 44, his season best.

Riverdale won the the triangular match with a team score of 156. Orion was second at 178, and Kewanee’s team score was 197.

Other scores tor Kewanee were Owen Laue 46, Reid Nichols 55, Jack Anderson 55, James McGarvey 66 and Easton Blake 55.

The boys will practice Thursday and Friday, as they get ready for their home invite Saturday at Baker Park.
