
One of the top high school soccer teams in Illinois visited Kewanee Tuesday, and the result was a shutout loss for the Boilermakers.
Peoria Christian, described by Kewanee Coach Jose Bermudez as “one of the best teams in the state,” came away with a 7-0 win.
Gustavo Bermudez had 10 saves for Kewanee, and the Boilers had five shots.
Kewanee’s junior-varsity team, though, got a 1-0 win over the visitors. Samuel Salazar scored the only goal of the game, with an assist from Jose Garcia.
The JV team has yet to give up a goal, as their first game ended in a 0-0 tie.
