
A Kewanee businessman faces charges in Indiana of solicitation of a child and possession of child sexual abuse material.
Jason M. Marchand, 56, owner of Jay’s Place tavern on East Third Street, was arrested July 25 by the Clinton County, Ind., Sheriff’s Department. A spokesperson at the county jail said Marchand was not being held as an inmate there today.

According to court documents, Marchand was charged with solicitation of a child to engage in sexual intercourse or other sexual conduct, a Class 4 felony; and possession of child sex abuse material, a Class 6 felony.
A Class 4 felony carries a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison and potentially an advisory sentence of six years in prison. The maximum sentence for a Class 6 felony is one year.
Sheriff’s department officials in Clinton County were not available Monday for comment on the arrest.
A pretrial hearing is set in Clinton County Circuit Court for Thursday, Sept. 25.
