Step ‘Into the Woods’ with Prairie Players Civic Theatre

Prairie Players Civic Theatre presents “Into the Woods,” the beloved musical by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine, at the historic Galesburg Orpheum Theatre. Performances are at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, July 11-12, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 13. Tickets are available at the Orpheum Theatre or via their website at galesburgorpheum.org.

Into the Woods weaves together familiar fairy tale characters—Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack, of beanstalk fame, and more—as they journey into the woods in search of their deepest wishes. But when their stories collide, they discover that getting what you want isn’t always the end of the story. This production includes mature themes and may not be suitable for young children.

The director of Into the Woods is John Siebken. The music director is Bob Fornander.

Into the Woods is made possible from memorial gifts made in honor of Vera Fornander, longtime actor and friend of Prairie Players Civic Theatre. It is also supported through a grant from the Illinois Arts Council.
