Every now and then, I come across a recipe that checks all the boxes: simple, quick, and crowd-pleasing. Saltine Toffee Bark is one of those recipes. I originally found it years ago while looking for something easy to make and share with my co-workers.

This recipe starts with a humble base: saltine crackers. It might not sound exciting but once layered with buttery caramel and topped with melted chocolate, those crisp little crackers transform into something special. The saltines give the bark a light, crisp texture and just the right amount of salt to balance the sweetness of the toffee and chocolate.

The toffee layer is made from just two ingredients—butter and brown sugar—boiled together to create a golden, caramel mixture. Pouring it over the crackers and baking it for just a few minutes gives the base a sweet, crunchy finish. Right after baking, a generous sprinkle of chocolate chips melts into a smooth, rich topping. Once chilled and broken into pieces, the result is a candy-like bark that tastes far more complex than it appears.
If you’re looking for something quick and incredibly satisfying, this recipe is worth trying.

Serves 20
Ingredients:
1.5 sleeves saltine crackers
2 sticks butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 ½ c. chocolate chips
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 425°F. Line a large jelly roll pan with parchment paper. Arrange a single layer of saltine crackers, salt side down. In a saucepan, combine butter and brown sugar and bring to a boil. Cook for a few minutes until the mixture is a deep caramel color. Pour evenly over the crackers.
Bake for 3–5 minutes until bubbly. Remove from the oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee. Once softened, spread the chocolate with a knife. Place the pan in the freezer for 15 minutes. Break into pieces and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
