PEORIA — The Kewanee Athletics 12U baseball team brought home the AA championship title at the USSSA Global Illinois State Tournatment this past weekend, besting a field of 22 talented teams in a highly competitive event held in Peoria.

The Athletics went undefeated, finishing 5-0 on the weekend. Their championship win came in dramatic fashion with a thrilling 12-11, come-from-behind walk-off victory over the Washington Team Works Tide.

The clutch performance sealed their place at the top and marked the perfect end to a standout season.

In recognition of their state title, each player received a Wilson A2000 glove and a championship ring.

The victory in Peoria capped off an impressive season for the Kewanee A’s 12U, who finished with an overall record of 26-11. Along the way, they also took home championship titles at the Pre-Season Showdown in Rock Island, the Pre-Season Classic in Chillicothe and the Hometown Heroes Classic in Rock Island.
