Galva police report for June 9-15

June 9:

Police recovered property in the 700 block of NW 7th Avenue.

Police recovered a cell phone that had been found in the 00 block of SW 2nd Street. It was later returned to its owner, who lived out of state.

June 10:

Police responded to an ongoing property dispute in the 200 block of SE 4th Avenue.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up call in the 100 block of North Exchange Street. It was determined to be a misdial.

Paul Story, 74, Williamsfield, was arrested for improper use of registration, operating a vehicle when the registration was suspended for mandatory insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle following a traffic stop near the intersection of Commercial Street and Wiley Street. He was released with a required court date.

Police assisted a resident who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis in the 00 block of NE 4th Street.

June 11:

Police spoke to a resident about a city ordinance violation involving too many pets in the 100 block of NW 8th Avenue.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 open line complaint in the 500 block of SW 1st Avenue. It was determined to be an accidental dial.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 open line complaint in the 200 block of NW 4th Street. It was determined to be a pocket dial.

Police responded to a child custody exchange in the 600 block of NW 1st Avenue.

Jamichael Hardeman, 38, Bradford, was arrested for driving while his license was suspended and speeding 65 in a 45mph zone following a traffic stop in the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street. He was released with a required court date.

Nathan Fox, 46, Lafayette, was issued a citation for having an expired registration in the 600 block of South Center Avenue.

June 12:

Police responded to a complaint involving domestic battery in the 200 block of NE 6th Street. The complaint was unfounded.

Police assisted a resident who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis in the 00 block of NE 4th Street.

Dane Dearing, 25, Kewanee, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle following a traffic stop in the 400 block of West Division. He was released with a required court date.

Police responded to a child custody complaint in the 600 block of NW 2nd Street.

While patrolling, police located a vehicle with an open door in the 400 block of East Division Street. The door was shut and secured.

June 13:

Police were called to remove an unwanted subject who was causing a disturbance in the 400 block of SW 4th Avenue. The subject was removed.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up complaint in the 800 block of North Center Avenue. The officer was not able to locate anyone who needed assistance.

Police were called to recover a debit card that had been found at the Galva Park District. It was returned to its owner.

Police responded to a civil standby to retrieve property in the 1000 block of NW 7th Avenue.

Police responded to a possible violation of an order of protection in the 500 block of SE 2nd Street.

While patrolling, police located an abandoned vehicle near the intersection of East Division Street and NE 2nd Avenue.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 1000 block of SW 2nd Street. The dog was impounded and later returned to its owner.

June 14:

Police responded to a property line dispute in the 300 block of SW 3rd Avenue.

Police assisted a motorist with a disabled vehicle in the 1000 block of SE 2nd Street.

Police assisted a resident who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis in the 00 block of NE 4th Street.

Police responded to a fireworks complaint in the downtown area. The officer was not able to locate the source.

June 15:

Police responded to an unattended fire in the 100 block of SE 6th Street. The fire department was dispatched and extinguished it.

Police responded to a report of an abandoned bicycle in the area of NW 5th Street and NW 1st Avenue. It was impounded.

Police assisted a resident who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis in the 00 block of NE 4th Street.
