The Kewanee Chapter of the Daughters of American Revolution is encouraging the Kewanee Community to support their effort to promote patriotism by celebrating Flag Day on June 14.
Did you know that at Flag Day commemorates the date in 1777 when the United States approved the design for the first national flag by resolution of the second Continental Congress?
“That the flag of the United States shall be 13 stripes of alternate red and white with a union of 13 stars of white in a blue field.”
Flag Day became a national observance in 1949 upon approval by Congress and signed into law by President Harry Truman.
So, this June 14, be sure to proudly fly your flags!
