Galva police report for April 28-May 4

April 28:

Police responded to a property line dispute in the 200 block of SE 4th Avenue.

Police assisted Henry County with traffic control for a chemical spill east of town. About 25 gallons of fertilizer were spilled and cleaned away.

Police met with two subjects at the Galva Police Department to complete fingerprinting.

Police responded to a possible utility wire across the roadway in the 300 block of SE 4th Street. It was found to be a traffic counter.

Police assisted a citizen in the 300 block of Swank Street.

Police investigated a report of a suspicious odor in the 400 block of SE 6th Avenue. The officer checked the area and was not able to locate any issues.

Jessica Clayes, 29, Kewanee, was issued a citation for having expired registration in the 100 block of NW 4th Avenue.

April 29:

Police assisted Henry County with an abandoned vehicle east of town. The officer contacted the registered owner and arranged for the vehicle to be removed.

Police conducted a low-speed vehicle inspection in the 00 block of SW 8th Avenue.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 open line in the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street. The officer could not locate anyone needing assistance.

April 30:

Police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 100 block of Main Street.

Police responded to a disorderly conduct/neighborhood dispute in the 900 block of West Division Street.

Police assisted a citizen at Sentry Estates.

Police responded to a two-vehicle accident with damage only at the intersection of Morgan Road and NW 1st Avenue. A crash report was completed.

Police conducted a low-speed vehicle inspection in the 300 block of NW 4th Avenue.

Police responded to a complaint involving juveniles standing on top of vehicles in Wiley Park.

Kody Beller, 30, Galva, was issued a citation for operating an uninsured vehicle in the 1000 block of SE 2nd Street.

May 1:

Police responded to a complaint in the 700 block of NW 4th Street. The subject appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis.

Police responded to a complaint involving chickens running around with no fence or enclosure in the 1000 block of NW 7th Avenue. The resident was advised to capture and relocate them.

Police responded to a complaint of a solicitor in the 800 block of NE 2nd Avenue. The officer spoke to a solicitor and advised them to obtain a permit or cease their activity.

Police responded to a runaway juvenile complaint in the 500 block of NE 3rd Street. The subject returned home within a few minutes.

Police responded to a report of a subject having a mental health crisis in the 500 block of West Division Street. The subject was taken by ambulance for an evaluation.

Brandon Swank, 29, and Jamie Howard, 36, Galva, were both arrested for disorderly conduct and assault following a request to remove unwanted subjects after a verbal disturbance in the 300 block of NW 1st Street. They were served with a written banning notice and released with required court dates.

Police tagged a disabled and abandoned vehicle in the 100 block of SE 1st Street. The vehicle was removed by the owner the following morning.

May 2:

Police responded to a trespassing complaint in the 100 block of Main Street. A resident was served with a written banning letter.

Police responded to a complaint involving loose chickens in the 1000 block of NW 7th Avenue. The chickens were found to be contained in a coop.

Police responded to a property line dispute in the 900 block of NE 2nd Street.

Police were called to assist a citizen in the 700 block of NW 4th Street. The subject appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis.

Police responded to a report of a child who wandered away from home in the 300 block of NE 1st Street. The child was reunited with family members within minutes.

Police responded to a civil property dispute in the 400 block of SW 3rd Street.

Police responded to a civil standby in the 500 block of SE 2nd Street.

May 3:

Police assisted a resident that was suffering from a mental health crisis in the 700 block of NW 4th Street.

Police responded to a property line dispute in the 800 block of NE 2nd Street.

May 4:

Police responded to a complaint involving a stray cat attacking a dog in the 100 block of SW 5th Street.

Police responded to a “crash detection notification” from an iPhone in the 600 block of South Center Avenue. It was a false alarm.

Police assisted an elderly resident with removing a bee that had entered their residence in the 200 block of SE 6th Avenue.

Police responded to a crossing arm malfunction at the SW 6th Avenue railroad crossing. BNSF was contacted for repairs.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 800 block of West Division Street.

Police responded to a verbal domestic disturbance in the 300 block of NE 1st Street.

Police responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint in the 100 block of NW 1st Street.

Police conducted a welfare check in the 300 block of Front Street.
