Boiler Girls top Bureau Valley in softball

The Boiler Girls won their March 31 game against Bureau Valley’s varsity team, reaching 5-2 in the beginning of the seventh inning, thanks to junior Kalliegh Gale and sophomore Rylee Blades earning doubles. 

The Boiler softball team collected 10 hits against the Storm. Pitcher Gale struck out 11 batters and allowed five hits and two runs over the seven innings. 

The Boiler Girls got a head start in the first inning, with two girls scoring a run. Blades hit a single to the center field, and sophomore Kieryn Abernathy stole home. Gale collected a total of three hits. 

Gale was also able to get a double in the seventh inning, a single in the first inning and a single in the fifth inning. In the middle of the lineup, Blades provided a pop and led Kewanee with her two batted-in runs.
