Valentine’s Day in Kewanee and Henry County: We’ve got you covered

Come February many will be faced with the question, “How shall we celebrate Valentine’s day this year?”

Approximately 50 percent of Americans participate in Valentine’s Day celebrations. Their observance of the holiday may be as simple as “going out” or “staying in” for a good meal. Others will honor the day with the exchanging of presents. However, you may want to celebrate or show your affection. Lack of opportunity and means is not a problem in Kewanee and the surrounding area.

In Henry County, there are approximately 214 restaurants or locations that serve food. Many of these establishments will offer up Valentine specials or events, making finding a good meal together a cinch.

If you’re in the market for a Valentine present, then as early as December stores have aisles designated to the holiday that are packed with gift selections. Most popular items bought for Valentine’s Day continue to be candy, cards and flowers. As with any seasonal merchandise, buy early for the best selection, or, buy late for quite possibly the best deal.

For those wanting to show their love through flowers, there are nine florist shops in the county, not counting supermarkets and stores that also stock flowers for the special day.

In the U.S. more than just romantic partners celebrate Valentine’s Day. Besides couples, families, classmates and friends have all participated in the observance of the holiday.

Schools hold parties for the younger children and some students create unique boxes to collect the cards they exchange with classmates.

When celebrating as a family or group of friends the evening looks a little different. Many will spend their time together doing an activity. Popular options are having a game or movie night.

If a movie is where your interest lies then you can find three different movie theaters within a 30 mile radius of Kewanee; Kewanee, Geneseo and Princeton. Not to mention the numerous streaming services available on your very own TV.

Bowling is another option for families and friends. And bowling alleys still exist in the area towns of Geneseo, Princeton and Wyoming. Call ahead to check availability.

However you plan to celebrate the holiday, Kewanee and the surrounding area has everything you need to make it special.
