Galva police report for Dec. 30 – Jan. 5

Dec. 30:

Police responded to a 9-1-1 open line call in the 300 block of SW 3rd Street. The subject was suffering from a mental health crisis.

Police responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint in the 300 block of NW 3rd Avenue. The officer was not able to locate the vehicle.

Police responded to a missing dog complaint in the 200 block of NW 2nd Avenue. The officer was not able to locate the animal.

Justin Mensen, 35, Lafayette, was arrested for criminal trespass to real property in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. He was given a notice to appear and released with a required court date.

Police responded to a complaint involving a vehicle spinning tires in a gravel parking lot, causing ruts and damage in the 300 block of NE 9th Street.

Police assisted the Henry County Sheriff’s Department with an activated burglar alarm on Route 34 several miles east of Galva.

Police responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint in the 1000 block of West Division Street. It was gone before the officer arrived.

Dec. 31:

A 13-year-old Galva juvenile was issued a juvenile referral for criminal trespass to a motor vehicle and possession of cannabis following a report of a burglary to a motor vehicle in progress in the 400 block of NW 1st Avenue. Police were able to secure and transport the juvenile to the Galva Police Department. The juvenile was released to a parent.

A 16-year-old Galva juvenile was issued a juvenile referral for criminal damage to property for spinning tires and causing damage to a parking lot the previous day on NE 9th Street.

Jan. 1:

Police responded to a complaint of an unknown subject walking into a house on the 400 block of SW 5th Street. The subject advised they were looking for a friend and left before police arrived.

Police responded to a motorist assist call on Route 17 about 2 miles south of Galva. The subject had two flat tires.

Police responded to a stray cat complaint in the 00 block of SW 4th Street for a stray cat complaint. The officer was not able to locate the animal.

Police assisted a young motorist with a flat tire on the Galva-Atkinson blacktop just north of town.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up call in the 200 block of NW 7th Avenue. It was determined to be a misdial.

Jan. 2:

Police located an Illinois license plate sticker in the 500 block of NE 2nd Street. After running the registration number, it was determined to belong to a Galva resident and was returned.

Police located a disabled and unoccupied vehicle on Route 17 near the Knox County line. The owner was contacted and said he was having tire issues.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 00 block of SE 3rd Street. The animal was impounded and later returned to its owner.

Tomi Nelson, 24, Peoria, was issued a citation for having expired registration in the 200 block of SE 8th Ave.

Nathaniel Robinson, 21, Ohio, IL, was issued a citation for having expired registration in the 500 block of SE 2nd Street.

Jan. 3:

Police met with a registered sex offender who was moving to Galva. The form was completed and emailed to Henry County for LEADS entry.

Kevin Robinson, 31, Galva, was arrested for domestic battery following a report of physical domestic violence in the 100 block of SE 2nd Street. He was taken to the Henry County Jail.

Police responded to a verbal domestic disturbance in the 500 block of SE 3rd Street.

Phyllis Dimmitt, 46, Galesburg, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance following a traffic stop in the 700 block of West Division Street. She was released with a required court date.

Police assisted a motorist in the 400 block of SW 1st Avenue. Police and the fire department responded to a vehicle in the 100 block of SE 3rd Street.

Krothopis Thompson, 23, Burlington, was issued a citation for speeding in the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street.

Jan. 4:

Police responded to a report of an unresponsive subject who was not breathing at a residence on NE 1st Street. The officer confirmed there were no signs of life. A coroner was contacted and responded.

Police responded to a 9-1- open line call in the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street. The officer was not able to locate anyone needing assistance.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up call in the 00 block of NW 4th Street. It was determined to be a misdial.

Police responded again to a 9-1- open line call in the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street. The officer was not able to locate anyone needing assistance.

Jan: 5:

A Henry County deputy responded twice to a report of a subject screaming in the 900 block of West Division Street. The subject appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis.

Police conducted a civil standby to retrieve property in the 100 block of SE 6th Avenue.

Police responded to a verbal disturbance in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. The subject appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis.

Nicole Snyder, 37, Monmouth, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance following a traffic stop in the 900 block of SE 2nd Street. She was released with a required court date.
