Drivers might want to avoid North Main Street for the time being, as construction crews have begun resurfacing the street.
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is funding the work, which will repair Main Street north to 10th Street.
Traffic on that stretch of the street is down to one lane. Flaggers at both ends of the construction zone will control traffic through the area.
City Manager Gary Bradley said today that IDOT has not given city officials any estimate of when the work will be finished.
