Competitive equestrian events to be held at BHC on Saturday

The Black Hawk College Equestrian Show Team will host the Robin Moreland Memorial Ranch Series on Saturday, Oct. 26 and Saturday, Nov. 16 in the Ag Arena at the East Campus.

Start time is 9 a.m. Competitive events include ranch rail, ranch riding, ranchmanship, working western rail, ranch reining, ranch conformation, heel-o-matic heading and Team Ranch Riding on Oct. 26.

In Team Ranch Riding, riders partner with a friend and compete on the same horse. Rider 1 rides the first half of the pattern. Rider 2 rides the second half of the pattern. The highest-scoring team wins the class.

Competitor divisions range from youths 18 and under to adults 50 and over.

All events are open to the public.

A portion of the proceeds from the series goes to the Robin Moreland Endowed Equine Scholarship through the Black Hawk College East Foundation.

The Black Hawk College East Campus is located five miles south of Kewanee at 26230 Black Hawk Road, Galva.
