Library announces art show winners

The winners of the 2024 Art Show have been announced at the Kewanee Public Library.

For the Painting category Marinn Cisna took first place and second place with “Glow’ and ‘Eventide.”

Both first and second place of the Graphic Art category went to Jane Kelly and her artwork ‘Ginkgo Leaves’ and “Under the Sea.” Paul Estes took the top prizes in the Photography – Animals category with “Three Amigos” and “Froggy.”

Second place winners were, from left, Doug Kindle, Linda Pont, Sharon Miller, Marinn Cisna, Jane Kelly and Paul Estes.

Paul also took first place in the Photography – People category with “Way Over There” with second place going to Doug Kindle for “Splashpad Fun.”

Linda Pont took first and second place of the Photography – Landscape category with “Reflecting Majesty” and “Fog Rolls.”

Janice Witte was a second-place winner in the textile art category.

Heather Hoadley took first place in Photography – Flowers with “Bluebell Sunset.” Second place went to Sharon Miller for “Bermuda Conehead.”

For the 3D Art category, Arthur Witte took first place with “Spalted Maple” and second place went to Cindy Legate for “Lucky Swag.”

Top place for the Textile/Fiber category went to Jackie Huber for her “Rectangular Granny Crib Blanket.” Janice Witte took second for “Baby Hooded Shawl.”

Both first and second of the High School category went to Abigail Reside for “Anime” and “Frogs.”

Cindy Legate was a second-place winner in the 3D Art category.

And  Zayne Reside took both first and second places for “Viking” and “Manga Guy.”

“All of us at Kewanee Public Library District would like to give a huge thank you to all of the amazing artists who entered our 2024 Annual Art Show, to our fantastic Friends of the Library group who sponsored the program and provided us with the prizes and refreshments, and to our judges, Kortney Saunders, Jean Craig, Doris Strand, and Brad Yelm, who all took on the toughest job of the art show,” said Sarah Arnold of the library staff. “Thank you all, we can’t do it without you.”
