The Kewanee Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Club performed an official ribbon cutting Thursday, Oct. 3, for The Kewanee Voice’s downtown office. The office, located at 121 N. Tremont St., had been a goal of the online news publication since its inception.

“Having a downtown office was important to us,” said Board Chair TD Welch. “We wanted to give our community members someplace where they could find us and drop in.”

Since its doors opened in August, the downtown office draws visitors daily, with people dropping in to place ads, offer donations or just to say hello.

“It’s wonderful to be a part of the downtown and we couldn’t be happier about the office and location,” said Susan DeVilder, managing editor of The Kewanee Voice.

Readership of The Kewanee Voice’s website has grown since its launch in May of 2023 to over 46,000 users, with its pages viewed over 220,000 times in September alone.

The hope for the board of directors is to hold an open house soon, but the timing and scheduling has been difficult.

“We have board members who are very active in their community and other organizations and since we have opened our downtown office, we have been kept busy on several exciting new projects,” said Welch.

The plan is to hold a holiday open house, invite the public in to view the new office and meet the board of directors and team sometime in the coming months. Plans will be announced soon.
