Police responded to a civil matter involving a recently purchased vehicle in the 100 block of SW 7th Street.
Police responded to a loose dog complaint on Bonham Road west of Galva. The owner was contacted, and the animal was retrieved.
Police responded to a complaint of criminal damage to property in the 400 block of NW 3rd Avenue.
Police assisted a motorist who locked their keys inside their car in the 500 block of SE 2nd Street. A Stark County deputy came and was able to unlock the vehicle.
Sept. 24:
Melissa Kelly, 47, Galva, was arrested for tattooing the body of a minor after police responded to a complaint involving a 15-year-old child receiving a tattoo over the weekend at a residence in Galva. Kelly was released with a required court date.
Police responded to a report of burglary and criminal damage to a padlock at the storage units just north of town on County 5.
Police served a written banning letter to a subject from a downtown business after a weekend incident in the 100 block of NE 6th Avenue.
Sept. 25:
Police assisted the ambulance with an injured child complaint. A child was injured after roughhousing with a sibling and was transported for evaluation.
Rolando Brand, 30, Miami, Fla., was arrested for not having a valid driver’s license and for a Broward County, Fla., warrant for grand theft 3rd degree after an officer, responding to a civil standby to retrieve property in the 2000 block of County Hwy 5, recognized Brand in a nearby vehicle and ran his information. Brand was transported to the Henry County Jail.
Sept. 26:
Police responded to a report about a disabled vehicle taken without permission in the 00 block of SW 2nd Street.
A 12-year-old from Galva was issued a juvenile referral to Henry County Court Services for domestic battery after police responded to a rolling domestic battery complaint in a moving vehicle in the 800 block of NW 3rd Avenue.
Police responded to a report of an out-of-control juvenile at a residence on NE 4th Street. The subject had left the house and was located several blocks away. The child continued to be very uncooperative with the officer and was taken by ambulance for a mental health evaluation.
Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up complaint in the 500 block of SW 4th Street. It was determined to be a pocket dial.
Police responded to a 9-1-1 rapid SOS complaint in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. It was determined to be a medical call and Stark County Medic was paged for transport.
Sept. 27:
Police responded to a domestic dispute involving a juvenile in the 800 block of NE 3rd Street. The subject was transported to a relative’s house to cool off.
Police responded to a report of a juvenile runaway in the 100 block of NE 4th Street. The subject was located north of town walking and was returned to the residence.
Police assisted a citizen who had located an old supply of ammunition and needed to dispose of it in the 600 block of SW 4th Street.
Police responded to a disorderly conduct-telephone harassment complaint in the 300 block of Front Street. The offender was told to cease communications.
Sept. 28:
Police met with a resident at the Galva Police Department to recover a cell phone that was found in the 300 block of NW 1st Ave. The officer was able to locate the owner and return it.
Police responded to a stolen vehicle report in the 1000 block of North Center Avenue. It was determined that the vehicle was present and that there was a misunderstanding between the complainant and another subject.
Police conducted an animal welfare check in the 800 block of NE 3rd Street.
Police responded to a fireworks complaint in the 300 block of NW 6th Avenue. The officer was not able to locate.
Police conducted a child welfare check after a complaint that a small child was outside and appeared to be unsupervised at a residence on SE 7th Avenue. The officer determined that the child was letting a dog out and both parents were nearby.
Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up complaint in the 300 block of SE 8th Avenue. It was determined to be a misdial.
Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. The officer was not able to locate the animal.
Sept. 29:
Police assisted a citizen whose dog had run away in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. The officer was not able to locate the animal.
Police responded to a theft complaint in the 00 block of SE 5th Avenue.
Police responded to a 9-1-1 call in the 300 block of SW 4th Street. It was an accidental call from an Apple watch.
Police responded to a complaint of illegal burning in the 200 block of SE 1st Avenue. The fire was extinguished.
