The long-held tradition of Galva homecoming activities begins with a pep rally and bonfire on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 6:30 p.m. In addition, the homecoming king and queen will be crowned and their court honored that evening.

The annual homecoming parade will take place on Friday, Oct. 4 at 2 p.m. Starting at the Galva Elementary School, the parade route heads south down NW 3rd Avenue, circles Wiley Park, and then heads back to the school via NW 1st Avenue.

Residents are invited to watch and cheer as it passes by. This year’s theme is based on Disney movies, with the freshman choosing “Monsters, Inc,” the sophomores, “The Lion King,” the juniors, “Toy Story,” and the seniors, “Cars.”

Game-time that evening begins at 7 p.m. with the Galva Wildcats football team hosting Peoria Heights on the home field.

The week culminates with a homecoming dance on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. in the high school gymnasium.
