Chamber highlights upcoming local events

The Kewanee Chamber of Commerce announced a lengthy list of local events and activities that are scheduled for September and October.

Here are the highlights:

The Kewanee Farmer’s Market is held each Wednesday and Saturday through Oct. 30 from 8 a.m. to noon, rain or shine. The market is located at Berrien Park and offers farm fresh produce, home baked goods and crafts.

The Kewanee Commission on Human Relations is presenting a celebration for Hispanic Heritage. The family-friendly event includes live music, food and vendors. The celebration is hosted by End Zone Sports Bar at 116 E. Third St. and will be held on Sept. 28 from 4 to 11 p.m. For more information email KewaneeHispanicHeritage@gmail.com.

Bakersville is back! The one-night volunteer-based event features a Halloween haunted hayrack ride through Baker Park and is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 12. A rain date is set for Oct. 19. The Enchanted Pumpkin Festival returns to downtown Kewanee on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Live music, family fun, kid’s games, vendors, and food will all be a part of the event.

Take part in the Halloween Hustle 5k for the Kewanee Area United Way before attending the Pumpkin Festival. The run will be held on Saturday, Oct. 19 in downtown Kewanee. Family activities and food vendors are planned. For details, call 309-761-8447 or find the event on Facebook.

The place to be on Saturday, Oct. 19 for treats is the Trunk or Treat located in Good’s Furniture parking lot on Main Street. The trunk or treat event will take place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. For more information email inquiry@goodsfurniture.com or phone 309-937-5656 to sign up a vehicle. The deadline for sign up in Oct. 12.

The fourth annual Halloween Bash is planned for Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Flemish American Club from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. There is no cover charge for a night of live music, drink specials and free snacks. Prizes will be awarded for best single and couples costumes. Also appearing will be High Jinx, Nova Lights and King of the Weirdos.
