
A missing teen from Geneseo was killed in a single-car crash, according to a press release from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office issued on Monday, Sept 2.
Anthony Carr, 18, had been reported missing and hadn’t been seen since Wednesday, Aug. 28. Law enforcement issued a statement Sunday asking the public for assistance in locating him.
But on Monday, at approximately 10:30 a.m., deputies from the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle crash in the 30900 block of 38th Ave. North in Hillsdale.
The vehicle appeared to have been traveling westbound, left the roadway by traveling across the oncoming lane of traffic, down a ditch before striking a tree, where the vehicle came to a stop. The lone occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced deceased on the scene. According to the news release, Rock Island County Coroner Brian Gustafson identified the driver as Carr.
The HCSO said the investigation into the accident is ongoing and won’t release any further information at this time.
