
The annual Kewanee Prairie Chicken Festival wrapped up Saturday and offered the public plenty of events.
The Chalk Art Competition began on Friday and the winners have been announced. Awards went to youth competitors, adult amateur competitors and professional artists, who took part in the event.
The winners are:

Youth- Cash Raes
Amateur- Brooklyn Schiltz
Youth Winners:
Champion 5-7 FinnLee Slusser, Second place, Noah Perva
Champion 8-10 Azlyn McNamee, Second place, Oliver Stabler
Champion 11-13 Scarlett Morey, Second place, KaRon Bliss
Champion 14-17 Liyah York, Second place, Tessa Mitchell
Chalk Art Adult Amateur Winners:
First place- Brooklyn Schiltz, Second place, Layla Dev
Chalk Art Professional Winners:
First place- Autumn Zaehringer, Second place- Mike Larson



The school competition art show was held and student artwork was displayed during the festival throughout Kewanee. The schools competed for first and second place cash prizes that will go towards art supplies for the school.
The winner was Irving School, which will receive $300, and second place went to Central School, which will receive $150.




Among the activities scheduled over the two-day festival were pedal car races, the annual Guns and Hoses pancake breakfast held by the Kewanee Police and Fire departments, a flea market, a Swiftie Party, a huge sandpile for kids, and musical entertainment under the Rotary Club tent.
