Program helps kids build long-lasting friendships

A program that would teach the six and above crowd how to meet and make friends is being offered by Freedom House.

An event that will include crafts, lunch and snacks, along with the movie, “Big Hero 6” is scheduled for Wednesday, July 24 from 10:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Freedom House office at 544 Tenney St. A second event is set to be held in Princeton next month.

Nicole Frank, a child and teen counselor with Freedom House, said Freedom House often offers programs to benefit children of the community. Tackling the subject of friendship was the decided theme for this one.

“We just settled on friendship,” said Frank, “on building friendships, how to make friends and how to be a good friend.”

Along with Frank, two other counselors from Freedom House, Jacquin and Jill, will also be in attendance.

The program is free and open to kids six years and up. To reserve a spot, phone Frank at (815) 872-0087.
