Galva police report for June 3-9

June 3:

Police responded to an attempted burglary complaint in the 100 block of NW 3rd Avenue.

Police responded to a request for a welfare check of a subject who had received a telephone scam and was very upset at a residence on NW 4th Street.

Police responded to a two-vehicle, damage-only, hit-and-run accident in the 800 block of SE 1st Street. The suspect’s car was not located.

Police responded to a request to watch for a reckless driver who was reported to be heading towards Galva at the east edge of town. The officer saw the suspect vehicle but did not observe any violations.

Police responded to a report of a large tree branch that fell in the 200 block of NW 2nd Street.

Police responded to a request to assist the Kewanee Police Department with a large fight involving officers at Fairview Homes.

Police responded to a report of an illegally parked vehicle in the 500 block of SE 8th Avenue.

Police responded to a barking dog complaint in the 800 block of NE 2nd Street.

June 4:

Police responded to a 9-1-1 open line complaint in the area of SE 2nd Avenue and SE 3rd Street. The officer could not locate anyone needing assistance.

Police responded to a physical domestic disturbance and a standby to retrieve personal property in the 800 block of NW 3rd Avenue.
Police responded to a 9-1-1 open line call in the 300 block of SE 3rd Street. It was determined to be a child playing with the phone.

Police responded to a report of a tree that fell across the roadway in the 500 block of NE 5th Street. The Galva Street Dept. was contacted and moved the tree onto the terrace.

June 5:

Police responded to a reckless driving complaint in the 400 block of SW 3rd Street. The officer was not able to locate the suspect vehicle.

Police responded to a report of a large tree limb that fell onto a neighbor’s car in the 300 block of SE 3rd Avenue.

Police responded to a citizen’s request for assistance in the 500 block of SW 6th Avenue.

Police assisted the Galva Water Department with shutting off a water service in the 200 block of NW 6th Avenue.

Police responded to a crossing arm malfunction at the NE 6th Avenue railroad crossing. BNSF was contacted for repairs.

Police responded to a low-speed vehicle inspection in the 700 block of NW 5th Street.

June 6:

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up call in the 300 block of Market Street. The subject was driving through the area and reported it was an accidental dial.

Police met with a complainant regarding juvenile mischief in Wiley Park. A citizen wanted to report a group of juveniles who were knocking on random doors and then running away.

Police responded to a telephone harassment complaint in the 700 block of NW 2nd Street.

Police met with a resident at the Galva Police Department to update their quarterly sex offender registry. The form was completed and emailed to Henry County for LEADS entry.

Police responded to an online scam and threats through electronic communications in the 200 block of SW 3rd Street.

Police responded to a request for a welfare check at a residence on NW 3rd Avenue. After checking, it was discovered that the subject was not in the Galva area.

Bonnie Mercer, 39, Cambridge, was issued a citation for having expired registration in the 300 block of James B Young Road.

June 7:

Police responded to a burglary complaint in the 300 block of Main Street.

Police responded to an animal abuse complaint in the 200 block of NE 1st Avenue. The complaint was unfounded.

Police responded to a burglary and criminal damage to property complaint in the 00 block of Chester Street.

While patrolling, Police located a solicitor in the 300 block of SE 6th Street. The solicitor did not have a city permit and was asked to either obtain a permit or leave the area.

Police responded to a request to remove a wheelchair that had rolled into the roadway in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.

Police responded to a welfare request at a residence on NE 9th Street.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 100 block of SW 3rd Street.

Police responded to a theft report in the 700 block of SE 1st Street.

Police responded to an obstruction in the roadway in the 1300 block of SE 2nd Street. The officer removed the tree branch that was in the lane of traffic.

Police responded to an open-door complaint in the 300 block of Market Street after business hours. An employee arrived and the door was secured.

June 8:

Police responded to a disturbance in the 300 block of SW 3rd Street. The subject was suffering from a mental health crisis.

Police responded to a hit-and-run accident involving a parked vehicle in the 400 block of SW 3rd Street. A crash report was completed. The suspect vehicle is unknown.

Police were flagged down by a citizen for a trespassing complaint in the 200 block of NW 8th Avenue.

Police checked the welfare of a subject at a residence on Olaf Krans Avenue.

Police responded to a report of a subject having a mental health crisis in the 300 block of SW 3rd Street.

Police checked the welfare of a subject at a residence on NE 5th Avenue. The subject was transported by ambulance.

Jorgan Baugher, 22, Moline, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance following a traffic stop in the 1000 block of SW 2nd Street. He was released with a required court date.

Police assisted the Kewanee Police Department with crowd control during a death investigation.

June 9:

Police responded to a harassment complaint in the 100 block of East Division Street.

Police responded to a reckless driving complaint in the 300 block of SE 4th Street. The officer was not able to locate the suspect vehicle.
