Police met with a subject at the Galva Police Department who wanted to change his Illinois murderer registration from Galva to a new residence in Kewanee.
Police responded to a report of a subject yelling and lying in the roadway on Hayes Road just west of town. After speaking to the individual, it was clear they were suffering from a mental health crisis. The officer contacted a family member, who responded and took the subject home.
Police investigated a car that kept circling the area when small children were playing in Wiley Park. The officer was not able to locate the vehicle.
Police responded to a complaint of harassment through electronic communications in the 300 block of East Division Street.
Police responded to a complaint involving child custody visitation issues in the 400 block of SE 3rd Street.
Christopher Hill, 44, Galva, was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and disorderly conduct after police responded to a report of a subject armed with a knife and threatening others in the 00 block of SE 2nd Avenue. Hill was transported to the Henry County Jail.
May 21:
Police responded to a report of a stolen bicycle in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. The owner found the bicycle nearby and took it back home.
Police assisted a resident with questions on West Division Street.
Police responded to a crossing arm malfunction at the Exchange Street railroad crossing. BNSF was contacted for repairs.
Police spoke to a subject by telephone in reference to a theft complaint involving a family member.
Police responded to a fire that had rekindled from a previous day in the 400 block of SE 6th. It was extinguished.
May 22:
Police responded to a request to watch for a vehicle at the east edge of town that had been stolen from St. Luke Hospital and was believed to be en route to Galva. The officer was not able to locate at the time. Several hours later, it was found abandoned north of Woodhull.
Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 200 block of NW 2nd Street. The dog was impounded.
Police responded to a disturbance involving a juvenile threatening others with a knife at a residence on NW 2nd Avenue. The subject was detained and transported to the Galva Police Department. The subject then destroyed two separate doors in the holding cells. Per juvenile probation, he was released to his parents with a juvenile referral for two counts of criminal damage to government-supported property.
Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 600 block of SW 2nd Avenue.
Police responded to a complaint of an out-of-control juvenile in the 200 block of NW 2nd Avenue.
Jackie McClain, 61, Galva, was issued a notice to appear for failure to inoculate a dog after police responded to a dog bite complaint involving a delivery driver in the 600 block of SW 2nd Avenue and it was determined the dog was not up to date with his shots.
Police responded to a complaint involving telephone threats in the 300 block of Front Street.
May 23:
Police responded to a loud noise complaint in the 200 block of NE 2nd Avenue. The subject was burning wood scraps and had cut several pieces early in the morning.
Police completed a low-speed vehicle inspection at the Galva Police Department.
Police responded to a request to assist Henry County officers involving a subject standing in the ditch late at night several miles east of town. The subject was given a ride by Henry County.
May 24:
Police noticed a utility trailer in the roadway in the 00 block of NW 8th Avenue due to the strong winds while patrolling. It was put back in the driveway and secured.
Police assisted the ambulance with a medical emergency on NW 2nd Avenue.
May 25:
Police spoke with a resident about a city ordinance violation involving a camper being scrapped and blocking the public right away in the 500 block of SW 3rd Street.
Police responded to a complaint involving a customer screaming and threatening other patrons in the 00 block of SW 2nd Street. The officer convinced the subject, who was suffering from a mental health crisis, to leave.
Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 400 block of SW 2nd Avenue. The animal was returned to its owner.
Police, along with Stark County Medic, were dispatched to the Galva Cemetery for a subject having an allergic reaction.
Police responded to an identity theft complaint in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.
Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 1200 block of NW 3rd Avenue. The owner was nearby and took the animal back home.
Edwin Hunt, 60, Galesburg, was arrested after a K9 alert on his vehicle following a traffic stop in the 500 block of West Division Street. A probable cause search discovered psilocybin mushrooms. He was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and transported to the Henry County Jail.
Breanna Spring, 32, Kewanee, was issued a citation for speeding in the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street.
Brian DeVito, 53, Altona, was issued a citation for speeding in the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street.
May 26:
Police responded to a complaint of a subject screaming outside in the 300 block of Front Street. The subject was told to move along.
Police responded to a request for a welfare check at a residence on NW 8th Street. The subject was fine.
Kyle Hand, 37, Galva, was arrested for a sex offender being in a prohibited zone after police were alerted during a foot patrol to the presence of a sex offender near the playground during a concert in Wiley Park. He was transported to the GPD for processing and was ultimately released with a required Henry County court date.
