The Boiler girls Softball team secured another big win on Thursday as they travelled to Mendota for a rematch against the Trojans. Kewanee won the game 14-1.
The Boiler girls had a quick start to the game, scoring five runs in the first inning. They added two more runs in the fourth inning. The Trojans managed to get one run on the board in the fourth inning but went quiet for the rest of the game. Kewanee scored one more run in the sixth and ended the game with a six-point finale in the seventh inning, bringing the score to 14-1.
Kewanee outhit Mendota 15-5. Leading for the Boiler Girls was Marissa Stevens who had four hits and one RBI. Hannah Tiska had three hits and two RBIs. McKensey Stontz had two hits and two RBIs. Ava LaFollette had two hits and one RBI. Makaela Salisbury and Hope Peed had one hit and one RBI each. Lexi Dillender and Tori Dennison also added one hit each.
Kalleigh Gale started on the mound for the Boiler Girls and pitched a complete game. She held Mendota to only five hits and racked up a whopping nine strikeouts for the night.
