Five-year-old injured after bicycle hit by vehicle, driver cited

A five-year-old was injured after a vehicle driven by a Wyanet woman collided with the juvenile who was riding a bike.

The accident happened on Friday, April 12 at approximately 8:15 p.m. at Fairview Homes, according to a news release issued by Kewanee Police Chief Stephen Kijanowski.

When officers arrived on the scene, an investigation was started into the incident. The driver of the vehicle, Tawnie Arrington, 27, was taken into custody and later released with a notice to appear in court. Arrington faces charges of driving a motor vehicle while her driver’s license is revoked and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

The five-year old received medical attention on the scene from the Kewanee Fire Department for minor injuries sustained in the collision and was then transported to OSF St. Luke Medical Center for further evaluation and care.
