Galva police report for Feb. 26-March 3

Feb. 26:

Police responded to a two-vehicle accident with damage only near the intersection of West Division Street and SW Ninth Avenue. Two large trucks pulling trailers “sideswiped” while trying to go around the corner at the same time. A crash report was completed. No citations were issued.

While patrolling, police stopped and attempted to assist a subject with capturing their dog in the 100 block of NE Eighth Avenue. The dog eventually returned home after eluding capture.

Police responded to a report of an open door at an abandoned house on NE Fourth Street. The door was secured.

Police responded to a complaint involving a large tree that fell on a house due to the wind, in the 300 block of SE Seventh Avenue. The officer spoke to the owner, who was not at home at the time of the incident.

Police responded to a complaint of threats made to a pizza delivery driver in the 300 block of SW Third Street.

Feb. 27:

Police responded to a residence on SE Sixth Street to assist with a medical emergency.

Police met with a resident at the Galva Police Department in reference to a complaint of harassment through Facebook.

Police responded to a civil property dispute and threats in the 100 block of South Center Avenue.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 100 block of SE First Street. The dog returned home.

While patrolling, police responded to an activated car alarm during the late-night hours in the 100 block of NE First Street. The office was unable to locate anyone in the area.

Police responded to an activated burglar alarm in the 200 block of SW Second Avenue. It was determined to be a false alarm.

Robert Kremer, 63, Galva, was issued citations for speeding and operating an uninsured vehicle in the 1100 block of SE Second Street.

Feb. 28:

Police responded to a disabled and abandoned vehicle in the roadway causing a traffic concern in the 1200 block of NW Third Avenue. The vehicle was towed.

Police responded to a complaint of a low-hanging wire in the 200 block of NE Fifth Street. A utility company was replacing wires in this area. Everything looked normal.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hangup call in the 300 block of SE Second Street. It was determined to be a verbal domestic disturbance.

Police responded to a medical emergency in the 200 block of Morgan Road and assisted with CPR until the ambulance arrived. Life-saving efforts were unsuccessful. The coroner was contacted.

Police responded to a request to remove an unwanted subject in the 500 block of SW Third Avenue.

Police responded to a request for assistance in locating a runaway cat in the 400 block of SE Seventh Avenue. The officer was not able to locate the animal.

Police responded to a loud noise complaint in the 00 block of NE Fourth Avenue.

Feb. 29:

Police responded to a request to assist the ambulance with a medical emergency at a residence on NW Fourth Street.

March 1:

Police were flagged down by a resident in the 500 block of SW Sixth Street.

Police, along with the fire department and Stark County Medic, responded to a two-vehicle fatality accident on the Altona Blacktop. The Knox County Sheriff’s Department handled the accident.

Karysa Taylor, 29, Kewanee, was arrested for possession of adult-use cannabis in a motor vehicle as the result of a traffic stop in the 1200 block of SE Second Street. She was released with a required court date.

Matthew Roden, 49, Galesburg, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage in the 600 block of South Center Avenue. He was released with a required court date.

March 2:

Police responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint in the 400 block of North Center Avenue.

Police responded to a possible overdose at a residence on SW Fifth Avenue. The subject was transported by ambulance for treatment/evaluation.

Police responded to a complaint of trespassing to a vehicle parked in a driveway in the 900 block of SE Second Street.

Police responded to a low-speed vehicle inspection in the 300 block of NE Second Street.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hangup call on the west edge of town. It was determined to be a traffic complaint.

Police responded to a request to check for appliances thrown from an overpass and struck by a train somewhere in the Galva or Kewanee area at the wooden train viaduct West of town. The officer was not able to locate any appliances near Galva.

Ronald Gregory, 57, Kahoka, MO, was issued a citation for speeding in the 1100 block of SE Second Street.

Laura Rawlings, 37, Galva, was issued a citation for having expired registration in the 500 block of West Division Street.

Patrick Hammons, 68, Galva, was issued a citation for improper lane usage in the 300 block of SE Sixth Avenue.

March 3:

Police responded to a request to remove an unwanted subject in the 100 block of SE Third Street.

Brennen Stewart, 31, Galva, was issued a citation for having expired registration in the 400 block of SE Second Street.
