Six Central School wrestlers advance to state meet

Thirteen members from the Kewanee Central School wrestling team participated in Saturday’s Rockridge Sectional meet and six team members advanced to the IESA state wrestling meet in DeKalb. 

Elementary schools from Regions 5-8 participated in the Rockridge Sectional meet and those placing in the top four in each weight class earned a trip to the state championship meet. 

The elementary school program consists of wrestlers in fifth through eighth grades.

Eighth grade Steamer wrestlers placing third and advancing are: Ace LaFollette, Lain Taylor and Jermain McKnight. 

Placing fourth and advancing are: Jayden Logsdon (5th grade), Ryan Conway (7th grade) and Eli Dennison (8th grade). 

Serving as alternates are sixth graders, Cruz Cortez and Carter Swearingin. 

The state wrestling meet will be held Saturday at the Convocation Center on the campus of Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.
