The Calvary Assembly in Galesburg is hosting a Homeschool Resource Fair for Galesburg and surrounding communities. The purpose of the event is to share community resources with the large number of homeschool families in the area and will include resources for parents, outdoor activities for children, food trucks and face painting.
The event is set for Thursday, May 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Calvary Assembly, located at 432 N. Linwood Rd. in Galesburg.
The fair is currently seeking organizations which offer resources to homeschool parents and will provide exhibit space at the event.
“We would love to see your organization set up a table at this event to share information on how your organization, business or co-op can assist homeschool families in education, athletics, the arts, drivers education, special education, and/or other areas,” the Galesburg Homeschool Fair planning committee wrote in a press release.
According to the latest statistics, homeschooling in the United States has grown significantly and the number of homeschool students has increased to 3.7 million in 2020-21. Those students represent almost 7% of school-age children (K-12).
Organizations or businesses who are able to participate in the fair are asked to RSVP by April 12 and complete the online form.
