The Kewanee Boiler Girls fell behind 24-8 in the first quarter against the Bruins of St. Bede and the end result was a 64-29 road loss.
The Bruins increased their lead into the second quarter, outscoring the Boiler Girls 13-6. The half ended 31-14 in favor of Mendota.
Ella Hermes led the Bruins with 17 first half points and teammate, Ali Bosnich added 12.
The Lady Bruins kept their streak going into the third quarter by scoring 21 points to the Boiler Girls’ six.
The fourth quarter ended with the Boiler Girls outscoring the Bruins 9-6, with Kewanee senior Hannah Tiska sinking a 3-pointer and a deuce in the final frame.
Ali Bosnich and Ella Hermes led all scorers with 17 apiece.
Freshman Damaris Diaz had six points for Kewanee with junior Mya Dearing and senior Hannah Tiska following with five points each.
The Boiler Girls (5-13, 2-2) will host Princeton (12-5, 3-1) Thursday at 7 pm.
