Lady Geese get road win over Abingdon-Avon

The Lady Geese earned a 60-50 conference road win Monday night over Abingdon-Avon and move to 6-2 on the season and 1-1 in LTC play. The Tornados are 4-3, 1-1.

Wethersfield had a strong first half of play, scoring 45 points (21 in the first quarter and 24 in the second). The Lady Geese held a healthy 45-22 lead at the half.

Lajaya Angel scored nine of her 14 points in the first quarter and Kennady Anderson added eight in the 21-11 first frame. Kennedy Quinn scored seven for the hosts.

Lana Scott had the hot hand in the second quarter, scoring the entirety of her 11 points in the 24-11 pull away. Paige Huffman hit two 3-pointers in support.

Hailey Redding had 11 second half points for the Tornados and Quinn made three treys in the fourth quarter in vain for Abingdon-Avon.

Anderson added six more points in the fourth quarter for WHS to add to her 20-point total. Quinn led all scorers with 22 points and Redding had 17 for the Tornados.
