The Wethersfield Lady Geese made it to the championship game of the Brimfield Thanksgiving Shootout, but lost Saturday’s title game to a tough Elmwood squad, 50-30.
Elmwood finished with a perfect 4-0 tourney record and is 5-1 on the season. Their only blemish is a 45-44 loss to Canton. Wethersfield had a second place runner-up effort after going 3-1 in tourney play.
The Lady Geese had a slow start Saturday and fell behind 15-5 after the first quarter and 30-18 at the half.
Natalie Babcock had 11 first half points and Melody Glenn scored 16 of her game-high 21 points in the first half to help put some daylight between Elmwood and Wethersfield.
The Lady Geese held their own in the third quarter, but couldn’t gain any traction after digging themselves in an early hole.
Lauren Rushing had eight second half points to help Elmwood seal the win.
Cora Hodge made three 3-pointers to lead Wethersfield with nine points and Kennady Anderson added eight. Paige Huffman and Kendall Vincent each scored six in the contest.
