ELMWOOD – The Wethersfield Lady Geese started their season in winning fashion Saturday with a 46-28 win over Tremont in the Brimfield Thanksgiving Tournament. It was one of three games held Saturday at Elmwood High School.

Senior playmaker, Kennady Anderson, had quite a day for the Lady Geese. She scored a career high 33 points against the Turks (she had a previous high of 30 points).

Wethersfield jumped out to a 15-7 first quarter lead. Senior Paige Huffman and Anderson each hit treys in the opening quarter. Anderson had 10 total points to slingshot Wethersfield into the early lead.

Savannah Jost scored six of Tremont’s first seven points.

Anderson scored all of Wethersfield’s eight second quarter points, giving her 18 in the first half. The Lady Geese held Tremont to just six second quarter points and Wethersfield’s lead grew to 23-13 at the break.

Anderson’s onslaught continued in the third quarter. She added 12 more in the frame, including another three-pointer to give WHS a 35-22 lead.

Wethersfield is now 1-0 on the season and Tremont falls to 0-2. Tremont’s first outing was a 61-40 loss to Princeville.

The Lady Geese will resume tourney play Wednesday (at Elmwood) when they face Knoxville for a 12:30 tip off.
