Abilities Plus held its first ever Chili Cook-Off on Friday, Nov. 17, and the contest allowed its staff to show off their chili skills. Staff members were invited to bring their best pot of chili to the agency. Other staff members were asked to sample a bowl before casting their vote for their favorite.

In addition to the staff votes, the agency invited four celebrity judges from the Kewanee community, who spent their lunch hours judging the chili. The judges included Mike Miler with Edward Jones, Gary Bradley, Kewanee city manager, Bennett Riber with the Kewanee Fire Dept., and Kewanee Deputy Police Chief Michael Minx.

The celebrity judges chose their own winner among the chili batches and gave a nod to CDS Instructor Veronica Pyle. The staff chose the chili made by coworker Amy Lewis.

Abilities Plus thanked the celebrity judges who came out to help and each of the staff who entered their chili into the contest.
