The 19th Hole restaurant at Baker Park has been closed for the season.
In recent years, park officials kept the restaurant open year-round. In the winter it was open for a couple of days a week, including Taco Tuesday. The restaurant also offered the venue for parties and other gatherings.
But Andrew Dwyer, executive director of the Kewanee Park District, said Tuesday there weren’t enough diners to justify keeping the facility open.
It was difficult to determine how much of perishable ingredients like fresh vegetables and meat to purchase, since those items wouldn’t keep from week to week.
So park officials decided to close the restaurant until spring, when foot traffic should get back to normal levels, Dwyer said.
The Baker Park golf course will remain open until Dec. 1, weather permitting.
