Bad weather forced last week’s first concert in the park indoors. But on Thursday, a large crowd gathered in Veterans Park to enjoy both the mild weather and the music.
The Jim Markum Swing Band concert, the first in the series, had to be moved to Kewanee High School due to high temperatures and rain.
Mark Mikenas, Kewanee Chamber of Commerce executive director, said moving the concert last week resulted in low attendance. The chamber sponsors the summer concert series, which runs through August.
Mikenas estimated the crowd at Thursday’s concert at 150 to 175 people.

The audience enjoyed the music first of the Kewanee Community Band, and then a performance by Jazz on the Side, which originally was a spinoff from the community band.
The Kewanee High School FFA provided concessions, and Kewanee Care offered free cookies to those in the audience.
There will be no concert in the park next Thursday, which is the Fourth of July. Missy Vail will perform the next concert on July 11.
