Who doesn’t love a parade? If the crowd size for Saturday’s Hog Days parade was any indication, the answer is not many.
Folks turned out for candy, music and pageant queens, and leading the parade this year was Parade Marshal Dan Rux.
The parade featured multiple floats, high school marching bands and an antique truck carrying the 2024 Outstanding Citizen, (so awarded by the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce Ambassor’s Club) Dave Clarke.
The one-mile route was lined with people who waited to see the over 90 entries, many with the 2024 Hog Days theme of “That’s the Way I Like It.” Awards were handed out afterwards by the KCOC. Here’s the list:
Ambassador’s Cup: First Christian Church
Sweepstakes: GES Sound
Commercial: Breedlove’s Sporting Goods
Not-For-Profit: Calvary Baptist Church
Most Original: PNB

From Dave Clarke’s vantage point, a parade insider’s look, he snapped several photos of the parade.
