Kyrsten Elizabeth Hill and Mia Rae Merkel are the top Class of 2024 graduates for Galva High School.
Hill, the daughter of Judi and Patrick Hill, has a grade point average of 4.0. She has been active in dance, track, choir, and Interact Club all four years of high school. She was selected as an Illinois State Scholar and received the President’s Education Award and the Galva P.E.O. Scholarship. Hill plans to attend Black Hawk College, East Campus, in the fall with plans to pursue a degree in elementary education.
Merkel is the daughter of Todd and Melissa Merkel. She participated in art, trap, shooting, and scholastic bowl during high school. An Illinois State Scholar, she was also a recipient of the President’s Education Award. Merkel plans to attend Black Hawk College, East Campus, for an Associate Degree in science and then transfer to a four-year university to obtain a Bachelor’s degree. During her school years, she achieved a 4.0 grade point.
