Annawan’s main railroad crossing was closed at midday Friday after a train struck the trailer of a semi that was crossing the tracks.
Annawan-Alba Fire Chief Dan Johnson said no one was injured in the accident. The train, which was blocking the crossing of Route 78 over the tracks, was stopped while the accident was investigated.
The semi was carrying construction materials. The rear lot the trailer was torn from the truck, and the trailer’s contents were strewn about next to the tracks.
Johnson said the crossing would be reopened shortly, about an hour and a half after the accident occurred.
Annawan police said the semi driver would be ticketed.
Ameren Illinois also responded to the accident.
