The second print edition of The Kewanee Voice, the “2024 Year in Review” hit the stands on Wednesday.

Along with top stories from last year, the free newspaper features new columns by Dave Clarke, Dean Karau, Greg Christakos and Susan DeVilder. Updates to some of the biggest stories of 2024 are also provided.

The 20-page edition includes business, crime and justice, community, local and opinion sections and is available at businesses in Kewanee. The newspapers will be available in several locations in Galva as well.

The Year in Review takes its place alongside The Hog Herald print edition, which was published in August of 2024 and contained news and information about the Kewanee Hog Days festival. Both print editions will be published annually.

Two other print publications are planned for the early spring and summer. The spring edition will spotlight Kewanee and Galva’s business and industry, and the summer edition will highlight area tourism.

“The purpose of these special print editions is to promote Kewanee, our community and its businesses,” said Mike Berry, publisher of The Kewanee Voice. “We understand that many residents miss print newspapers and we want to offer something for all of our readers.”

Berry said the plan is for four quarterly print publications a year, with two of those editions dedicated to issues and topics that would have a positive impact on the community. The business and tourism special sections will both be geared towards boosting the local economy.
